Welcome to the Jewett Volunteer Fire Department Website!
Jewett Volunteer Fire Department is a 100% volunteer department which provides Fire Protection and Rescue services to the citizens of Jewett and surrounding area. Additionally, we provide mutual aid services to our neighbors in Leon County.
Our department consists of approximately 20 members and 6 units. Five (5) members serve as officers which are elected by the membership for 1 year terms.
In addition to the standard equipment required by NFPA, we have foam firefighting capabilities and extrication capabilities with our Holmatro extrication equipment.
We actively participate in annual training sessions at TEEX Annual Municipal Fire School, Chalk Bluff Extrication School, and other outside training programs.
We are proud to be members of the Leon County ESD, Leon/Madison County Firefighters Association, and the State Fireman's & Fire Marshals' Association of Texas.
July 31st - August 1st will be the summer Coon Hunt.
TEEX Annual Municipal Fire Training School is fast approaching. July 19 - 24 are the official dates. JVFD will be sending 3 members this year:
David Kirkpatrick, Chief will be attending: Rescue VI - Rope Rescue Technician
Shane Walker, Captain will be attending: Advanced Municipal Fire Operations: Chemical Emergency Mitigation (AMFO:C.H.E.M.)
James Engle, Chaplain will be attending: Public Fire Educator I
JVFD as again improved our department! Our station is now fully equipped with electric bay door openers. This addition will reduce damage to the doors, increase response times, and provide added protection to our station by allowing us to close our doors when responding to calls without losing valuable response time.
